Injured Police Canine’s Fundraising Goal Exceeded
The Monterey Park Police Department and Monterey Park Police Officers’ Association have been overwhelmed by the show of community support for Robin, the recently injured police canine. As of 11 a.m. on May 13, over $17,000 has been raised which exceeds the amount the Monterey Park Police Officers Association (POA) was trying to raise and exceeds the cost of Robin’s care.
The Monterey Park POA established a page on the fundraising website Go Fund Me to help offset the police department’s costs for Robin’s care. The donations that have been made are greatly appreciated.
Robin was injured on May 9 when she and her handler were attacked by bees during a search for burglary suspects on a residential hillside in Monterey Park. As of this morning, Robin’s condition continues to improve although she remains in guarded condition. The police department will provide daily updates on her condition via the department’s Twitter (@MontereyParkPD), Nixle and city website (www.MontereyPark.ca.gov) pages.
