The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health is hosting free vaccinations for the H1N1 Virus (otherwise known as the Swine Flu) throughout the Los Angeles County area in the coming months. These vaccination events are for persons of low income and considered at high risk for medical problems. Monterey Park, in cooperation with the County, will host such an event November 5 & 6, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Barnes Park Gym, 350 S. McPherrin Avenue.

Persons eligible for the HINT vaccination are:

Pregnant women; People who live with or care for babies less than 6 months old;

Children and young adults 6 months to 24 years old; People 25 to 64 years old that have a chronic medical problem such as asthma; Healthcare and emergency medical workers with direct patient contact.

Seasonal flu vaccinations will be available for people not eligible for the H1N1 vaccination.

Persons wishing to receive the vaccination may arrive anytime between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Drivers should enter from Garvey and Ramona Avenue. It is advised people carpool bouncy castle for sale with other interested individuals or take the Spirit Bus, as parking availability is very limited. Los Angeles County expects a large volume of people arriving to receive the free shots.

To ease traffic congestion and accommodate parking needs, portions of the following streets will be made ”one-way”, timed parking, or closed to vehicular traffic:

One-Way Traffic – McPherrin and Ramona Avenues south of Newmark and Harding Avenue (Some areas may be posted for ”Timed Parking” only, such as one hour parking.)

Closed to Vehicle Tragic – Park Avenue and Newmark Avenue (between McPherrin and Ramona)

”No Parking” on the south side of Garvey Avenue between Atlantic Boulevard and Ramona Avenue.

We are asking residents to park their vehicle on their driveway or legally on another street. Access to the closed off streets will be provided to residents showing proper identification.
