Anna Chu was recently notified by Senator Dr. Ed Hernandez of the 22nd Senate District that my nominee, Cecilia Andrea Jennings Nunez, has been selected as the recipient for the 2015 Women of Achievement Awards in the category of Emerging Leader.

Cecilia is a San Gabriel resident attending Ramona Convent Secondary School in the Alhambra Unified School District as a high school junior.  She is an incredible young lady with a very bright future ahead of her.

Project NEO not only provides free afterschool tutoring to at-risk youth in the San Gabriel Valley but also mentors our volunteers in developing strong leadership skills.  Cecilia hopes to attend Brown University and pursue a career in Politics and Economics and Project NEO wants to do everything possible to foster her aspirations.  Prior to the 2015 Women of Achievement Awards, Cecilia will be installed by Trustee Mike Eng of the Los Angeles Community College District Board of Trustees as the newly elected President of the Project NEO Student Leaders Board on March 20, 2015.

The installation will take place during the Project NEO Career Pathways Forum at East Los Angeles College (ELAC) in the S2 Recital Hall from 6:00pm to 7:30pm.  In this forum, speakers will reflect on challenges and opportunities to implementing, scaling and sustaining career pathways by identifying proven and innovative practices for helping students attain the skills and credentials needed for the attainment of and advancement in high demand careers.
