Rosemead HS Sweeps El Monte in Cross Country

Rosemead High School swept visiting El Monte High School in the Mission Valley League cross country opener for both schools on Oct. 1.

In boy’s varsity, El Monte’s Brandon Martinez won the race in 16:04 on the 2.92 mile course. However, Rosemead earned the next seven places to win 19-43 (low score wins).

The host Panthers were led by Chris Le (16:22) in second, Gilbert Ramirez (16:51) in third, Johny Leung (16:59) in fourth and Abraham Esparza (16:59) in fifth.

In girl’s varsity, Rosemead won 16-47 and was led by Brittnie Inflatable Water Slide Munoz (20:00) in first, Elizabeth Lyons (20:10) in second, Kelly Luc (20:25) in third, and Jocelyn Hua (20:46) in fourth place. El Monte’s Angelina Martinez (21:04) earned fifth place to lead the visiting Lions.

Rosemead also won the boy’s junior varsity and frosh-soph races, and girl’s junior varsity races as all five Rosemead teams are now 1-0 in league, and El Monte teams are 0-1.
