Assemblymember Ed Chau Statement on Governor’s Budget Proposal
Assemblymember Ed Chau (D – Monterey Park) released the following statement upon announcement of the Governor’s 2015-2016 State Budget proposal on January 9:
“Throughout the year the Assembly and the Senate will work to build upon the Governor’s budget, which invests in the core needs of the state, strengthens the middle class, reduces poverty, and fulfills the promise of access to medical care.
Schools and community colleges get a big boost in this budget and the Governor showed he is on board with preventing higher education fee increases.
As chair of the Assembly Committee on Housing and Community Development, it was good to see Cap-and-Trade funds flow to the Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities program, but I hope to see more consideration being given to funding affordable housing as we move through this process.
I look forward to working with my colleagues to finalize another on-time balanced budget that better positions California for the future.”
Assemblymember Chau represents the 49th Assembly District, which includes the Cities of Alhambra, Arcadia, El Monte, Montebello, Monterey Park, Rosemead, San Gabriel, San Marino, South El Monte, and Temple City.
