The Monterey Park Chamber of Commerce will partner with East Los Angeles College and the Pasadena Star News to host a 2015 City Council Candidate Forum on Tuesday, February 3rd at East Los Angeles College. The event begins at 5:00 p.m. “Meet and Greet the Candidates” and at 6:00 p.m. will be the Candidates Forum. Location is the Recital Hall, which is next to the Vincent Price Museum at ELAC.

The forum will be moderated by East Los Angeles College President Marvin Martinez and will feature Pasadena Star News Senior Editor Frank Girardot and Monterey Park Chamber of Commerce Vice President Randall Avila as panelists. “We are very excited to partner with such important institutions in our city to engage our candidates in a very meaningful discussion on the direction of our city.” said Avila.
There are six candidates running for three seats on the council. All six candidates will be invited to participate in the event. The candidates on the ballot are Handyman Joe Ray Avila, Council Member Mitchell Ing, Planning Commissioner Stephen Lam, Council Member Teresa Real Sebastian, Community Participation Commissioner Delario Robinson and Council Member Anthony Wong.
“The focus of the chamber is to grow and strengthen our local economy. We want our current businesses to thrive and expand. We want new businesses to open their doors in our city to bring in new jobs and new sales tax revenues. We look forward to hearing from this diverse group of candidates exactly how we can accomplish this.” shared Avila when asked what Monterey Park businesses were looking for in a council member.
This event is free and open to the public. We encourage all residents, business owners and interested parties to attend this one of a kind event. For more information on the Monterey Park Chamber of Commerce and candidate forum please contact Deana Sewell at (626) 570-9429 or Deana@MPKChamber.org
